World Organisation for Animal Health 89th General Session

Paris (France), 10 May 2022 – The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) will hold the 89th Annual General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates from Monday, 23 May to Thursday, 26 May 2022. Every year, the General Session brings together all representatives of OIE Member countries to discuss, refine and adopt international standards for animal health, discuss the world animal health situation, and review forthcoming activities of the Organisation.

The 89th General Session will include the adoption of administrative and technical resolutions as well as elections for vacancies in some of the governing bodies of the Organisation.

The event will be held with a daily plenary session from 12:00 to 16:30 PM CEST (Central European Summer Time) and will be conducted in a semi-hybrid format. This means the main speakers will be at the event venue in Paris while Members’ delegations and partners will attend remotely.

On Thursday 26 May, during the first administrative session (reserved for permanent and alternate Delegates), the following elections will take place:

  • Election of the Middle East member at the OIE Council
  • Partial elections of vacancies at the Bureaus of the Regional Commissions for Africa, Americas, Asia, Far East and Oceania, and Middle East.

A remote voting system will be deployed for Delegates and alternate Delegates to cast their vote electronically during the election section.
