Second Regional Workshop on Swine Disease Control in Asia

As a follow up to the 2014 workshop and under the GF-TADs umbrella, OIE RRAP and the FAO RAP, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of China, organized the Second Regional Workshop on Swine Disease Control in Asia, from 27 to 29 June 2017 in Beijing.  The aims of the workshop are to share information on swine diseases status, control measures and experiences, to identify the main gaps, and to find a way forward on swine disease control in the region.

Representatives from Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea(DPR), Korea( RO),Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hongkong SAR and representative from OIE RRAP and FAO ECTAD China were invited to attended this workshop.

The objectives of this workshop were to:

1.Follow up on the recommendations and progress since the 1st Swine Disease Workshop in Asia in November 2014

2.Gain a deeper understanding of the current swine disease situation in Asia

3.Share information on zoonotic swine diseases, control strategies and challenges facing the swine industry;

4.Identify risk pathways for introduction and spread of transboundary swine diseases in Asia

5.Update regional priorities and identify gaps.

6.Identify any new considerations
