At a time when the world is facing an unprecedented pandemic, the importance of animal disease surveillance has become evident. To support countries maintaining global transparency and reporting matters of animal and public health, OIE launched the renovated World Animal Health Information System (OIE-WAHIS) in March 2021.

In response to Members’ needs to better familiarise themselves with the new platform, the OIE and RRAP co-organised a practical virtual training session on the New OIE-WAHIS on 17 November.

Focal Point for Animal Disease Notification and Aquatic Animal Health as well as their substitutes were invited and 46 participants from 24 members and non-members attended the training.

For better interaction during the sessions, Participants were split into 3 zoom breakout rooms. Trainers prepared three training sessions, each focusing on a specific topic and moved from one room to another to deliver the same training.

  • Session 1: Learn on how to consult basic Public Interface data
  • Session 2: Learn how to submit a Six-Monthly Report
  • Session 3: Learn how to submit a report an Immediate Notification and Follow-up Report

After the group sessions, the current status and future activities of the OIE-WAHIS project were updated by the HQ, followed by the guidance on how to access training materials.
